Be a Volunteer
What to Expect as a JA Classroom Volunteer…

Junior Achievement provides the keys to your success: the training, the curriculum, and a classroom ready to meet you. All you need is your enthusiasm, your life experience, and a willingness to teach children. You will be the positive influence, teaching the importance of making sound decisions in the choices they'll face ahead of them.
1st…you do not need a degree in business or economics to be a volunteer.
Especially at the elementary school level (K-6), JA’s programs explore economic topics with which we’re all familiar (i.e. jobs, money, taxes, and local businesses).
2nd…you will not need to create a lesson plan or activities.
You will be given a packet of materials that includes everything you need to lead a Junior Achievement lesson. The materials are well organized and easy to use.
3rd…you will not lecture to the students
JA materials are hands-on, age appropriate, and fun for the students to use. You will not have time to present a lecture to the class…you’ll be busy with activities related to the lesson.
4th…you will not be left alone with a group of students.
Teachers are required to remain in the classroom with you throughout the lesson, but you will lead the class through their JA activities.
Finally...you WILL undoubtedly have FUN!!
Young people really appreciate the time you take to come to their classroom. The majority of JA volunteers in Shawano County return to teach JA classes again and again.
